Who Am I? Where Have I Gone?

Posted By on September 3, 2008

Hi!
Yes, we’re still alive.
Yes, the kid is well again.
Yes, I am now well again, after she shared with me.
Yes, I will get my lazy self back to being a good blogger.
Starting now!

**************

When I was younger, I was the shyest person on the face of the planet. Literally. Before school each morning, I used to throw up from the nerves of having to go out in public and *gasp* talk to people. As I got older, my mother was the bane of my existence, with her attention whoring, look at me, must embarrass the crap out of my daughter ways. Somehow, I married one of the loudest, most attention craving people I’ve ever met. And then I had his child.

Standing in line at the post office today, I realized how far I’ve come, thanks to the 35″ of attention grabbing cuteness that was holding my hand. Decked out in a pink ball cap with curls peeking out, with orange beads around her neck, a sparkly pink purse slung over her shoulder and clutched tight, and the voice of a parrot, she commanded every single person to shower her with their attention. Saying “HI!” to each one, over and over till they answered, she was the epitome of her mother’s greatest fear. And yet, that poor, introverted mother didn’t shrink into ground, didn’t spontaneously combust, and didn’t run screaming from the room. Instead, she held her chirping fashionista’s hand and laughed out loud at the situation.

Who on earth have I become? Is this how I turn into my mother?

Awww – she's her daddy's girl ;) Lydia is exactly the same way – the instant she could say hi, everywhere we went was the "Lydia show."

I'm glad she is feeling better. She is such a cutie, how could anyone not want to say "Hi" to her.
