Forecast: Pleasant 65 Degrees With Strong Chance of Flurries

Posted By on November 30, 2008

Dear City of Savannah,

Thank you for reminding us how lovely you are, and how much we will miss you. Thank you for putting on such a festival, pulling out all the stops for kicking off the Christmas season. Thank you for pretending that people can really ice skate without ice, and that snow comes from giant blocks. And thank you for having free parking on weekends.

Sincerely,
The family that finally had a good day out.

Today we hit the Savannah Holiday Frolic, a big to-do with closed down streets, vendors and elves walking the streets. Just strolling around was more than pleasant, given the glorious weather (again, I find myself marveling at 65 degrees in winter), but the snow machine was tops.

At first E was all “Dude, what is this stuff?! It’s cold! And slippery!”

But it took less than a minute before she came to her senses and realized this was nothing new. Then she was all “Dude, I am so over this. Oh! Look! Kids! Let’s play!”

Not a surprising reaction, given her absolute love of the white stuff last year . . .

Poor kid is going to be in for a rude awakening in three weeks when we bundle her up and toss her back out into it again in Ohio.

I feel her pain, I hate that white stuff. I know I say this every time, but she is adorable, and those curls… so cute.

So, Ohio in three weeks? Want to have a reunion?
