It’s The End Of The World As We Know It

Posted By on January 29, 2010

I love my mother.

I love that I really do enjoy spending time with her, and she genuinely tries to help as much as she knows how. I love our Sunday night TV dates, and the lunches at a sunny kitchen table.

But, good God, I am so done living with her.

And, finally, I can back my words and say that I actually am done.

Tomorrow afternoon will find me in an SUV crammed with toys and clothes and kids and cats and every little thing we have to drag with us, hauling ass down the Pennsylvania turnpike. We’ll roll in to our new adventure after dark and our little family will be back together again. Ready to learn to live on our own, and ready to make the best of our new surroundings.

The past year was full of so much. So many fights, so much toughing it out, and so many times of gritting our teeth and waiting just a little longer. It was a year of growing and visiting and loving every second of the time we all had together. Now, absence will have to make our hearts grow fonder, and the internet will have to fill in for the daily hugs and kisses from grandparents. Our visits are already planned, and the miles will just keep racking up on the car. We learned what it is to be close to family, and that’s going to be a hard adjustment to make.

But, still, we’ve packed up our toys and we’re ready to roll.
