Shhh, They’re Camping!

One morning, as the sun slowly rose over the landscape, a mother was greeted with two abnormally rambunctious little girls.

*bounce*

*bounce*

*bounce*

They ran from room to room, leaving destruction as they went. Up the stairs and down, stopping for a quick bite to eat every once in a while. These poor souls needed to run run RUN! But, alas, one was on the tail end of a cold and the other had started coughing and sniffling in the night. The day’s frigid temperatures were no match for such weak immune systems. So, up they were sent to the one place they could run run RUN! Up to the loft, empty and unused, the most inconvenient room in the house that catches all of the heat that is paid for so frugally. It’s now a wonderful room – a running track for toddlers, with sweltering temperatures.

And they ran ran RAN!

But then they were bored. Oh, so bored. They whined of their boredom, schemed great plans to combat it and begged for their terribly busy mother to play with them. Leaving behind the dishes and the laundry and the vacuuming, she did. She played and she played and she played. Finally, worn and exhausted, she lay on the floor and listened to her girls continue to scheme against the boredom. They begged and begged for her to play horse, to play chase and to build a tent. Please please PLEASE build a tent!

The mother looked around at the empty space, knowing that building a tent would include hauling every needed item up the stairs and back down again.

She hesitated.

They begged.

Suddenly, the mother had a wonderful idea. A tent! Of course!

So, up went the real tent.

And the children haven’t been seen since.

What a sweet picture! And, a fabulous way to beat boredom. I love the red hair. I am partial as 3 of my four kiddos have red hair.
