Kinda Lazy Sunday: The iPhone Edition

This morning, both girls inexplicably woke up an hour earlier than usual. As we all stumbled out of bed, the husband had the brilliant idea to head downtown to DC for the day. He had high hopes of touring the National Museum of the American Indian and ushered us all out the door in record time.
I can’t remember the last time I made it out the door by 8:30am.
Except, it was really 9:30am.
Freaking time change.
Long story short, the American Indian Museum? Not so much for rambunctious toddlers and preschoolers. We spent the majority of the time prying them away from every TV monitor they saw and chasing them away from touching stuff that looked way too inviting.
Eventually, we headed back outside and made a bit of a loop up towards the Capitol building, stopping along the way to investigate the Botanical Gardens, where my budding photographer stole my camera . . .

After our fill of blooms and buds – and keeping the two of them from leaping into the fountain – we turned them loose on the Capitol lawn, climbed the stairs and stopped for a snack . . .

As we started to turn a bit numb from the bite of the wind, music caught our ears. Strolling Walking Hauling two tired girls down half of the stretch of the National Mall, we found ourselves in the midst of a massive St. Patrick’s Day parade.
Thanks be to the powers of coincidence, because the girls were thrilled. Candy, necklaces, marching bands and many more of their favorite things.

Some days, I really do love this city.

I will be in DC on the 30th of this month staying for the weekend. We need to do lunch. I also need help picking kid-friendly events to keep us busy while my sister is in work all day long.
Days filled with coincidences and good luck are the best kind of days. Hopefully all that running around will win you a decent nap! (Try not to snort-laugh at that thought. It could happen. Maybe.)
Have you tried the National Building Museum? Room with all toddler friendly toys- think that it’s free. We visit the museums (National Histroy is our fav) each time we are in town to see my husband’s family. There’s always something to do!
I just LOVE D.C. So very glad the day turned out to be fun!
