These Are The Germs That Never End

Posted By on April 11, 2011

On Friday evening, E and MJ anxiously paced the front hallway, stopping to listen to each car that pulled in the neighborhood. When the husband finally turned the corner, they nearly burst through the door with excitement. As he unloaded his suitcases and set them inside, they screamed with joy. He took off his shoes and was attacked by the clamoring monkeys.

I?

I drug myself down the hallway, mentally giddy, but completely exhausted. After a kiss hello, I melted into an armchair and blissfully watched the girls climb all over him. It doesn’t matter – 15 months or 5 days – a homecoming is always so wonderful.

Especially when the next day is Saturday and involves a lot of no children allowed time for a certain person.

However . . .

Yes. However. Nothing goes according to plan around here.

However . . . Saturday morning dawned bright and early with . . . wait for it . . . another round of the stomach flu for yours truly. For two more days I spent way too much time on the bathroom floor and shivering in bed. My entire weekend to recover from the past week only led to me needing more time to recover.

I’m starting my search now for a germ-less bubble to spend all of next winter and spring in.
