The Finished Girls’ Room: Part 1
Posted By jayna on August 25, 2011
After finally getting the girls’ beds done and put together, things have been falling into place nicely in that room. The blank walls are slowly being filled up and the long list of plans is being knocked out, one by one. I seem to have broken it down into walls, each one getting finished fully before moving on to the next. This week, it’s the one with the beds, with properly hung art work and a few flying butterflies.
With big props (yet again) to my Pinterest addiction, we spent one evening doing this:
(excuse the messy-ness of all of us – it had been a long day)
(just regular old latex paint, some canvases that were on sale at Michael’s and our own fingers and toes!)

And ended up with these:

(butterflies from etsy)
Apparently we’re going with a tiny bit of a bug and flower theme in here, so it works out well that they not only match the colors in the bedspreads, but the lamp and side table as well. (Thank you Lowe’s and your sample size paint cans!) That lamp is from waaaay back when I first put together E’s nursery in my temporary apartment and, ironically, the walls were yellow and the bookshelf it sat on was hot pink. Five rooms later and we’re back where we started, color-wise at least. The side table/nightstand/hidden storage of a giant mess started out as a ridiculously beat up antique wash stand. A bit of sanding on my part, and a bit of painting on the husband’s part and we ended up with a cute little place for the girls to stash the important things in life. It is still quite beat up – some would say it has character – but manages to hold E’s princess shoes and MJ’s hat collection quite well.

It’s nice to look down the hallway and see a glimpse into their cheery room , especially now that it’s beginning to be a bit more personalized and decorated. It’s even more fun to look in and see when it is actually still clean!!

Looks great Jayna. Love the repurposed wash stand.
I am so addicted to Pinterest. How did we survive without it :)
Love the room.
