And Then There Were Three

A wee bit after 5am, on Friday, October 21st, something woke me up . . .
Two hours later and I begrudgingly allowed myself to be herded into the car by a ridiculously excited husband.
Two hours after that – following a blinding display of incompetence, a threat of being sent home despite being at 6cm, and five attempts to get a saline lock in my arm – this guy burst into the world. Kicking, screaming and in a big hurry.
Weighing in at 9lbs 4oz and 21 inches long, he’s made us realize that I just keep growing them bigger and bigger. Already back to that weight at just 5 days old, strong enough to flip himself over and loud as hell . . . we’re in for another handful.
If anyone needs me, I’ll be up to my elbows in dirty diapers, cuddling jealous sisters, draped in smelly burp cloths and walking the tightrope that this whole parenting three thing has brought along.
And staring into those gorgeous eyes, of course . . .
