A Christmas Tour of the Little Blue House

Come on in!
I’ve always loved the years when we’ve been living in a house with a banister to decorate with lights. The garland has definitely seen better days, and I have an entire spool of ribbon that didn’t make it up, but I love it just the same.

Heading into the dining room, the girls’ tree sits in the corner, where it can be seen from all the other doorways. The actually decorated the whole thing this year after I put the beads and ribbon on. I only rehung a handful of ornaments, mostly to add a few on the top half. Everything on there is completely non-breakable, so it works out great when they decide to spend an hour or two redecorating it over and over again.

Looking up, the light fixture got a makeover with the addition of some sparkling ornaments. They’re so cheery that I may find some to keep up all year.

On the opposite wall, we have our advent gingerbread house – which I completely forgot to fill and start this year – along with a few other things.

I normally have my glass jars out, so I just grabbed some candy canes and dropped them in. Instant festive.

The blue one is definitely my favorite.

Over in the kitchen hangs a rainy afternoon project that E and I did. Foam cutouts of snowflakes and ornaments perk up the pot rack – and make a great thing for the baby to watch when I’m cooking.

Back to the front of the house and into the living room now! (Decorating goes quick when you only have four rooms on the first floor!) Up went the tree, garland, stockings hung with little care, glitter spray painted reindeer, not-yet broken nutcracker and empty boxes that actually allowed to be played with. (The girls say hi!)

A few of my favorite ornaments . . . The Clara Mouse that has been my favorite ever since I was a little girl, which I made sure to take to my own house.

And a glass star that matches a set my mom has. It’s nice to have things from home that are connected.

I couldn’t wait to decorate for Christmas this year in the Little Blue House. Normally it is cozy and warm, but the extra bit just makes everything so much cozier.

(the stockings were hung by the fireplace with care . . . merry christmas to all and to all a goodnight!!)

Your house is adorable! So festive and clean! I totally failed with my Christmas decorations this year, though it is the first year we’ve ever decorated for Christmas, so I guess I just have to ease into it (no point in decorating when your always on the other side of the country for the holidays). I love the glimpse your girls watching from the steps :)
The pic with the girls hiding in the stairwell? PERFECTION.
