She’s Crafty {Yeah . . . A Valentine’s Mantle}

Posted By on February 7, 2012

In keeping with my joy over finally having a mantle to keep decorated, I present the “man, I miss my Christmas decorations but this sugary sweet stuff isn’t bad” mantle.

I have a confession. Two, rather.

The first is fairly unimpressive, given my joy over this mantle. The amount of time I’ve spent arranging and rearranging all the pieces up there is beyond insane. I’ve asked the girls how it looks. I’ve asked the husband. And the only person that cares is me. But, really, this whole decorating for the season thing is really making me happy lately. It’s almost shameful.

Enter the second confession . . . Until two weeks ago, I had never ever used a hot glue gun in my life.

Armed with bags of conversation hearts, styrofoam cones in two different heights and a brand spankin’ new hot glue gun.

I only burned myself twice.

The girls only ate a couple pieces with glue on them while my back was turned.

And it only took a few hours to complete.

But now? Glue guns to everything!!! Bring on the projects!!!

Miss E loved them so much that she begged and pleaded and begged again for me to make a set for her to take to her teacher. And, because I’m a serious pushover, I found myself running to the store Monday evening and working late into the night so she could have them bright and early on Tuesday morning.

I didn’t burn myself a single time with those.

    1. I love the mantle!

    2. What color is the paint? I am thinking about painting our kitchen a similar color.

      I’m not sure on the paint – it was here when we moved in and somehow fit our color style perfectly. The can is currently buried under the stairs in the closet, but if I happen in there soon, I’ll let you know.

    Those trees look SO GREAT. I saw them floating around pinterest and just assumed they wouldn’t look as good in person, but yours look amazing.
